The fourth webinar of the 2021 series Governance and Partnerships for Air Quality Management by Dr. Sarah ReesDr. Rees is the Deputy Executive Officer in the Planning, Rule Development, and Area Sources Division at the South Coast Air Quality Monitoring District (AQMD). The South Coast AQMD is the air pollution control agency for the greater Los Angeles area, one of the largest air-sheds in the United States. The agency’s air pollution control program has been in operation since 1947 and is the nation’s oldest.  The South Coast AQMD’s responsibilities include controlling stationary source emissions, providing permits and inspecting affected businesses, complying with the government’s air quality standards, and administering incentives. This webinar presents an overview of the framework of the US air quality regulations, followed by a detailed synopsis of the role, importance, success, goals, and challenges faced by South Coast AQMD.
